Dr. Janet Roark

I have been a veterinarian for 15 years, and became interested in essential oils to learn about natural alternatives in returning my own body to a healthy state. Almost immediately, after realizing the benefits of essential oils at the cellular level, I started using them in my practice, Hill Country Mobile Veterinary Service, to facilitate wellness. I've seen oils help restore health in many animals.
As a Veterinarian, I am an animal health and welfare advocate,

OUR STUDENTS SAY IT BEST

I was holding [an essential oil] class for humans tonight, but I was so excited to field the misinformation that came up in question around diffusing oils or using oils around pets, “I read this… or I heard that…” I felt so confident fielding those questions and telling them I’m in the process of being certified as an animal aromatherapy specialist by Dr. Janet Roark (vet) and they were sooo happy to feel that they were finally getting reliable info about EOs and pets!

Yesterday I was at a barn treating horses. The owner had asked me to also evaluate and possibly treat her dog. The dog has had a horrible past. Started out at a puppy mill. Didn’t produce puppies so was taken to shelter. Adopted by a man who beat the dog repeatedly. Back to the shelter. Then to a foster home. Finally adopted by my client 1 ½ years ago. Hates men. Doesn’t have much trust for anyone except my client. Initially as I was with the horses the dog growled at me and showed her teeth. I ignored that. When it was her turn, I pulled out several oils I thought might calm her (all lids on). She pulled away from lavender (based on what you said, it may have been too strong). Tried Adaptiv. Nearly violent pull away. Really surprised me. Tried Copaiba. Not a no, but not a definite yes. Sort of like “what else you got?” Tried Vetiver. Same as reaction to Copaiba. Pulled out the Roman Chamomile and thought she would eat my hand with the bottle! She LOVED it! Since she wouldn’t let me touch her, I simply touched her body in several places with the bottle. She was fine with that. Eventually she allowed my hand to join the bottle on her body. I then opened the bottle and set it on the floor about 3 feet away from us and proceeded to do MFR for 45 minutes. It was amazing.

[I] absolutely love this method [self-selection] and love sharing it in our classes and with the dogs at the rescue group.
This is one of the dogs at the shelter. We presented Adaptiv to him after a very challenging walk and he gave us the most amazing response and calmed right down before we left.

Bear has been using oils all his life (4.5 years), but I have NEVER seen him do this before. It [Respiratory Blend] arrived in my LRP order today and he went straight for it. #proudmumma

I had a chance to use the self-selection technique on Friday. My client has a 3-year-old male cocker spaniel who is terrified by the fireworks. I brought out lavender, frankincense, ylang ylang, vetiver, and copaiba. Initially I was thinking copaiba or vetiver would be good options, but he walked away from the copaiba and had little interest in the vetiver. He walked away from the ylang-ylang. But he couldn’t get enough of the lavender and frank. He wanted to keep sniffing each of those, tail wagging, and some nose licking! It was so cool to experience this in action.
